Synopsis

Wealthy socialite Olivia Barton never imagined her fiancé would disappear on what was supposed to be a routine business trip. She's even more heartbroken and confused when a hired private investigator tracks him half a world away, to a seaside town in Colombia. But the country has recently been ravaged by a massive earthquake and deadly tsunami, shutting down outside communication and making travel all but impossible. Still, Olivia is determined to make it to Colombia to find the answers she so desperately seeks. What she needs is a guide—a mercenary.

The man named Thomas arrives in shadows, an unmistakable air of danger about him, promising to help lead her through the ruined, crime-infested country. But when Thomas and Olivia find themselves fighting an undeniable attraction, danger takes on a whole new meaning. Then again, in the lush jungles of South America, all the rules are different and Thomas and Olivia are about to discover that sometimes the thing you seek, isn't necessarily the thing you find.

A socialite  Olivia Barton nunca imaginou que seu noivo desapareceria no que deveria ser uma viagem de negócios rotineira. Ela ainda fica mais desconsolada e confusa quando um investigador privado contratado descobri que ele está a meio mundo em uma cidade litorânea na Colômbia. Mas o país recentemente foi assolado por um enorme terremoto e um tsunami , desligando a comunicação e tornando a viagem quase impossível. Ainda assim, Olivia está determinada a chegar à Colômbia para encontrar as respostas que ela procura tão desesperadamente. O que ela precisa é de um guia - um mercenário.

O homem chamado Thomas chega das sombras com um ar inconfundível de perigo sobre ele, prometendo ajudar a levá-la a atravessar um país arruinado e infestado pelo crime. Mas quando Thomas e Olivia se encontram lutando contra uma atração inegável, o perigo assume um novo significado. Então, novamente, nas exuberantes selvas da América do Sul, todas as regras são diferentes e Thomas e Olivia estão prestes a descobrir que, às vezes, o que você procura, não é necessariamente o que você encontra.

Livvy é uma garota que sonha em ter uma família onde possa extravasar o amor que tem guardado em seu coração. Órfã de pai e mãe e adotada por um casal que não ligava para ela, acaba encontrando em Alec o que sempre sonhou, porem perto da data do casamento o rapaz desaparece sem deixar vestígio e ao contratar um detetive particular , ela descobre que ele estava na Colômbia na mesma época que um terremoto assola a região. Disposta a encontrar respostas sobre se ele está  vivo e porquê sumiu ,ela resolve se aventurar no país com o mercenário Thomas, um homem misterioso ,calado e de sangue frio que promete leva-la onde deseja mas nada mais além disso.

Ao chegar no país, Livvy precisará de toda força que tem para enfrentar não só seus medos e fraquezas como também descobrir o que quer para seu futuro e se vislumbra Alec nele.

Começando com uma narrativa lenta , o casal vai passo a passo desbravando territórios inóspitos e enfrentando situações inesperadas além de começar a se afeiçoar um com o outro . 

Claro que a relação entre eles é impossível e eles sabem já que Thomas leva uma vida errante de caçador e Livvy está comprometida e quer a estabilidade de um lar, porem nem sempre as coisas acontecem como queremos, não é mesmo?

A tensão sexual, adrenalina e carência de ambos vão ditando as regras desta caçada e a trama vai ganhando agilidade e uma dinâmica ,diferentes do que estamos acostumados nos livros desta escritora,  trazendo um elemento novo ao estilo de Mia Sheridan, a ação. Em determinados momentos, eu me via dentro da cena e sentia toda a emoção dos personagens além de viver as surpresas que eles encontraram pela frente e simplesmente não conseguia parar de ler.

A história é surpreendente , envolvente e emocionante além de trazer uma surpresa para as fãs da escritora que não posso falar por ser um grande spoiler mas que garanto vai agradar em cheio os corações apaixonadinhos .

O livro traz as marcas características dos romances de Mia Sheridan onde os personagens tem famílias conturbadas e desestruturadas causando traumas em suas vidas, além do leve toque de crítica social que ela faz questão de colocar para alertar a sociedade para um dado problema. E me deixando numa ressaca sem tamanho, querendo mais e mais. Até ouso dizer que a resolução e o final poderiam ter mais páginas, porque sou dessas que nunca está satisfeita, mas percebi que do jeito que foi finalizado tudo ficou redondo e bem amarrado.

Tudo bem ,eu admito que foi perfeito do jeito que foi.   

Conversando com a escritora, descobri que este não é um novo volume da série Signos do Amor ,como eu tinha pensado mas sim uma nova série  Solstice que Mia Sheridan promete estar chegando com muitas novidades para os leitores.

Aguenta, coração !!!!

Livvy is a woman who dreams of having a family where she can surpass the love she has kept in her heart. Orphan of father and mother and adopted by a couple that did not care about her, she ends up finding in Alec what always dreamed, but near the wedding date the guy disappears without a trace and when Livvy hires a private detective, she discovers that Alec was in the Colombia at the same time as an earthquake plaguing the region.

 Determined to find answers about whether he is alive and why he disappeared, she decides to venture into the country with the mercenary Thomas, a mysterious, cold-blooded man who promises to take her where she wishes but nothing more.

Upon arriving in the country, Livvy will need all the strength she has to face not only her fears and weaknesses but also discover what she wants for her future and if Alec glimpses in it.

Beginning with a slow narrative, the couple walks step by step unfolding inhospitable territories and facing unexpected situations as well as starting to bond with one another.

Of course the relationship between them is impossible and they already know that Thomas leads a wandering life of hunter and Livvy is committed and wants the stability of a home, but things do not always happen as we want, right?

The sexual tension, adrenaline and lack of both are dictating the rules of this hunt and the plot is gaining agility and a dynamic, different from what we are accustomed in the books of this writer, bringing a new element in the style of Mia Sheridan, the action. At certain times, I could see myself inside the scene just like a movie and feel all the emotion of the characters beyond living the surprises they encountered and simply could not stop reading.

The story is surprising, engaging and thrilling as well as bringing a surprise to the writer's fans that I can not speak for being a great spoiler but who I guarantee will please in full the passionate hearts fans of Mia Sheridan's books.

The book bears the hallmarks of Mia Sheridan's novels where the characters have troubled and unstructured families causing traumas in their lives, plus the light touch of social criticism she makes a point of putting to alert society to a given problem. And leaving me in a big reading hangover , wanting more and more. I even dare say that the resolution and the final could have more pages, because I am never satisfied, but I realized that the way it was finalized everything was round and well tied.

 All right, I admit it was perfect the way it was.

Talking to the writer, I discovered that this is not a new volume in the  Signs of series, as I had thought,  but a new series ( Solstice) that Mia Sheridan promises to be coming up with a lot of news for readers.

As always I loved it so so very much.
